The hotly anticipated Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 are reportedly not making an appearance during Microsoft's April event. Rumors suggest that the two products are not yet ready for release on the second quarter of the year because the Windows-maker can't seem to decide what processor to use: AMD Ryzen or Intel Kaby Lake.

Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 Latest Updates

A more interesting Surface Pro 5 is expected to hit the store shelves this year. Aside from the device's exciting features and specs as constantly reported by several sources, new information about the device's processor is currently under debate.

Since AMD released its efficient processor Ryzen, many manufacturers including Apple have believed to changed their mind and ditch out Kaby Lake. Microsoft is also presumed to be one of them when the trailer for sci-fi movie "Alien: Covenant", a film sponsored by AMD revealed a group scientist using the alleged Surface Pro 5.

Aside from Surface Pro 5, Surface Book 2 is also expected to be a no-show during Microsoft's hardware event in April. Although the device has reportedly entered the production, since the laptop is said to be built with significant features and impeccable specs that deviate from the previous versions, Surface Book 2 can't possibly make it to the event, Droid Report reported.

For this reason, Surface Book 2 is rumored to be released in October 2017 alongside the Surface Pro 5. Both products are presumed to be powered by AMD Ryzen CPU and run the latest version of Windows 10 also known as the Creators Update believed to be released during the fall, Learn Bonds reported. 

What to Expect from Microsoft's April Event?

In the absence of Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 in the upcoming Microsoft's hardware event, another device is believed to be making an appearance. A Chromebook Pixel laptop rival called Cloud Book, new version of HoloLens headset, tweaked version of Surface Studio and other products compatible with Windows 10 Creators Update are expected to launch in the event.
