The AMD Radeon RX 500 series allegedly as engineering samples have appeared in various images published online confirming the Polaris graphics cards rebrands. Though based on a tweaked Polaris architecture and improved 14nm FinFET process, the RX 580 and RX 570 only have a minor boost in clock speed and not much in performance when compared with the RX 400 series.

AMD is set to throw in new graphics cards in the mainstream PC gaming market with the Radeon RX 500 series, namely the RX 580 and 570. The two graphics cards allegedly engineering samples have been photographed and leaked online, revealing earlier reports and few more tidbits of information. To start, the AMD RX 580 is seen with a new board design, the C940, with an 8-pin controller, which suggests higher clock speeds but at more power consumption. The Polaris rebrand is known for its mainstream performance and efficiency but may have very little performance gains for those seeking to upgrade from the RX 480 according to Segment Next.

Meanwhile, the Radeon RX 570 like the RX 580 used the same printed board with the RX 480 and RX 470, but the latest picture does not include a DVI port. However, the RX 570 is reported to come out with custom printed circuit board by third-party manufacturers with freedom to add more features, Digital Trends reported. The RX 570 requires a 6-pin connector to bring power to the card and again as rebrands do not deliver a substantial performance boost from the RX 470. The AMD RX 500 series will be retailing around April 18 at just about the same time that NVIDIA will release OC versions of the GTX 1060 and GTX 1080.

The AMD RX 500 series offers mainstream gamers a good performance per value while the Radeon RX Vega is designed for the enthusiast PC gaming market. RX Vega may be unveiled at Computex on May 30 or through a special event just before E3 2017 starts on June 13. The PC gaming market is enlivened once again with options that combine performance, efficiency, and value.
