Metal or ceramic body

The second generation of Nexus 7 comes out with rubbery back. It's very unlikely for Google to apply the same formula with the 2017 edition, as the Nexus 7 could have a scratch resistant metal or glass back panel instead. 

Snapdragon 820 or 835 processor

Last year's rumors suggested that the Nexus 7 would have a Snapdragon 820 chipset but this year, Qualcomm introduced the fastest processor to date, the 835 series. If the Nexus 7 will materialize in 2017, the tablet is highly likely to use the powerful chip to meet VR demands. 

32 GB or 64 GB internal memory

Google introduced two variants of Nexus 7 in 2013: the 16 GB and 32 GB storage. It is plausible that Google will increase the memory up o 64 GB for the top tier and 32 GB for the cheaper variant, Geek Reply reported.

4 GB or 6 GB of RAM

The older Nexus 7 gets 2 gigs of RAM. Google may not be as insane as Samsung with its Chromebook's 8 GB of RAM but a decent 6 GB for a mini tablet is still a good choice.

A massive tablet

After the Walleye and Muskie fishy codenames have been revealed, Forbes has made an analysis on the third fish, Taimen. Taimen is a huge one weighing more than 100 kg. That being the case, Google could mean a large device, bigger tablet or probably a combination of powerful hardware and big display? The reputable media outlet went on to say that Taimen could be a Pixel XXL with screen at least 6.2-inch big.

Android O

The Nexus 7 2017 is highly likely to run Android O operating system. Speculative reports started to have a strong reason as there is no Andromeda OS spotted anywhere. Hiroshi Lockheimer firmly said that there is no merging between Chrome and Android OS, Trusted Reviews reported.
