As Google is gearing up to release its Pixel 3 Android smartphone in 2018, the handset is striking up some heated competition between phone manufacturers like LG, TCL, Coolpad and HTC. The Google Pixel 3 smartphone goes to show that the tech giant is definitely committed to the future of its new flagship line.

The mobile phone network company HTC, holds a two-year production contract with Google for the current-generation Pixel, and the Pixel 2 smartphones, which is slated to roll out in 2017, according to DigiTimes. Nonetheless, Coolpad, TCL and LG are now all competing with HTC for a contract to manufacture Google's third generation flagship, the Google Pixel 3.

Despite HTC holding the contract for the previous two Google Pixel handsets, the Taiwanese consumer electronics company may not get the deal for the Google Pixel 3 Android smartphone. Google doesn't always just give one phone manufacturer a contract to produce all its devices. In spite of that, recently surfaced reports are claiming that LG could be the Pixel 3 contract's front-runner.

Nonetheless, HTC has already shipped more than 2.1 million units of Pixel and Pixel XL since September 2016. The Google Pixel 3, on the other hand, is expected to reach an amount of at least 5 million units sold, which would be more than double the amount than the current Pixel and Pixel XL smartphone, Android Headlines reported.

In spite of that, the Pixel smartphone still shows strong demand from tech fans, something that HTC and Google continue to struggle to meet. But if the companies can solve the issue in time, it could run off with significant market share from Samsung and Apple. If Google can produce the kind of quality seen on the Pixel to the upcoming Pixel 3, there will soon be very little space for Microsoft to edge in with its highly anticipated Surface Phone.
