Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro just got an update that makes the console an even better partner for a 4K TV set. The Media Player app update of the PS4 pro will be up for grabs starting March 28. The PlayStation 4 Pro update will provide support for 4K video and VR videos in 4K.

The Japanese tech giant made it known that an update would roll out to the PS4 Pro Media Player that enables the console to 4K video playback, and save files in mp4 format on either a USB drive or in a home server, according to PlayStation Blog. In order for this to work, PS4 Pro users must have a compatible 4K TV to be able to view the 4K resolution videos.

The PlayStation 4 Pro Media Player app update also speeds up users in finding media in the Player by activating the home server as a media option. The tech titan also reminded PlayStation 4 Pro owners that the USB device has been formatted as extended storage for PlayStation 4 gaming console, which can be used for saving games and apps.

Moreover, for the PlayStation VR system owners, the Media Player app update will support playback of 4K VR video content. The feature will be presented in 1080p video for the reason of PSVR's native resolution limitations. Nonetheless, the playback of 4K VR video content support will still appear better than the standard HD VR videos, Tech Crunch reported. PS4 Pro owners will now be able to enjoy a 360-degree 4K video in the comfort of their homes.

In a related PlayStation news, the tech titan is expected to reveal the list of PlayStation Plus freebies on March 29. Sony has already revealed that PlayStation Plus subscribers will acquire the upcoming third-person shooter "Drawn to Death" on April 4. Meanwhile, the full list of games will be announced by Sony on March 29.
