Redmi 4a is the new and most popular budget smartphone in India whilst the recently launched Oppo F3 Plus is increasingly gaining popularity. How do they compare to the reigning Galaxy J7 Prime?

Design and Build

Redmi 4a has the smallest display of all three, with the 5 inches screen. Galaxy J7 Prime packs 5.5-inch display whereas the Oppo F3 Plus has the biggest display of 6 inches. The three favorite Android phones sport all-metal body - each with its own signature design. Apparently, Xiaomi device is the most affordable one that comes without Gorilla Glass protection.

Specifications

Oppo F3 Plus, Redmi 4a and Galaxy J7 Prime run on Android Marshmallow with their respective custom skin. The operating system doesn't deliver a pure Android experience but MIUI 8 has been the most useful among the others - not just in term of theme but the level of performance, according to users in MIUI forum.

As far as the camera is concerned, the F3 Plus has a rather weird optics pairing but it's Oppo's major selling point as a selfie expert. The dual-lens module is for the front-facing camera. It's got a massive 16 MP and 8 MP sensors packed with PDAF and laser autofocus. On the back, the 16 MP camera gets Pixel-like software, OIS, for steady shots. Redmi 4a and Galaxy J7 Prime can't beat the pixels in Oppo F3 Plus as both sport 13 MP rear shooter.

For budget-concern users, Redmi 4a comes cheap but there's a catch. The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 425 and there's no fingerprint sensor, Droid Review reported. The F3 Plus is on par with Galaxy J7 Prime as the former uses 653 series whilst the latter is an Exynos 7870-powered handset.

In the battery department, Oppo F3 Plus wins with a whopping 4,000 mAh and Galaxy J7 Prime comes second with 3,300 mAh whereas Redmi 4a gets a decent 3120 mAh capacity.

Redmi 4a is suitable for entry-level user who wants decent hardware setups in a smartphone. Android fans who plan to upgrade their devices can opt for Galaxy J7 Prime or a newer handset, Oppo F3 Plus.
