A new schematic design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has been leaked revealing some valuable insights into what the 'smartphone to beat this year' brings but definitely no home button like the S8. Meanwhile, the Note 7 will be refurbished to be used as rental handsets or resold at a discounted price as Samsung's response to environmental pleas regarding on what to do with the millions of its recalled devices.

Slashleaks has posted on what purportedly a schematic design of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Though still unverified, the new leak conforms to what was previously reported like the edge-to-edge screen with smaller bezels. There will be no physical home button like the S8 but a new button for most likely be Bixby, Samsung's Siri is placed near the volume controls. There is also a slot for an S pen, the USB-C port, and the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The two dots located in the top bezel are for the iris scanner and the primary camera according to Mashable. Other expected specs on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 includes the use of two brands of processors like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 for U.S. devices while others will be powered by the Exynos 9XXX processor. There will be 6GB of RAM and 256GB built-in memory. It will also have the 6.4-in. QHD+ or may go for 4K Super AMOLED display.

As the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to arrive this year, Samsung is tackling another major project, which is to refurbish the Note 7. The South Koreans have previously announced that it will be scrapping the Note 7 line but have bowed down to pressures from ecological organizations like Greenpeace. Samsung will be refurbishing some of the millions of recalled Note 7 while others will be scrapped after harvesting usable parts and extracting the metal, BGR reported. Most likely the refurbished Note 7 may be used as rental phones or resold in lesser markets at a discounted price.

However, the refurbished Note 7 may not arrive until after the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the S8 have already made their big debut this year. The Note 7 will most likely be seen in 2018 and observers say that Samsung may not make a big re-launch. This is expected from the South Koreans who may want people to forget the exploding Note 7 fiasco. A good way for the company to do this is to go really "great" in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
