As expected, the latest Android version is Google's biggest unveiling during its annual Google I/O event; however, that might not be the case for this year's gathering. The purported Android O is highly anticipated but there are still other hardware and software products in queue to impress the 7,000 expected attendees including developers and media.

Developers from different parts of the world are set to meet again in the annual Google I/O event on May 2017 at Mountain View's Shoreline Amphitheatre. The three-day event aims to showcase Google's plan for their product during the entire year so each attendees are expected to see new software and hardware products.

In relation to that, Google is expected to launch the next Android version in the event that eyes from the mobile world are excited to look at. Android 8 or "Oreo" is said to be associated with new and impressive features such as picture in picture mode, app icon badges, restricted background activities, refreshed notifications, smart selection and adaptive app icons, Tech Radar reported.

Furthermore, aside from the most talked-about Android O, Google is also introducing new developments and progress in the field of mixed reality. With this regard, the search giant is looking forward to bring the VR and AR in every device through Chrome for Android.

Bringing VR and AR in the mainstream through Daydream could be Google's greatest breakthrough in 2017 which will then competes with the services of HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. The competition will be stiff this year since Apple is reportedly started investing for AR research.

In addition to Android O and VR/AR mainstreaming, Google is also expected to give updates on the Android Wear, Google Home, Chromecast, Android TV and web services such as Google Drives, Android Central reported. On the other hand, other Google hardware like Nexus 7 tablet and Pixel 2 smartphones are also expected to make a brief appearance during the event.
