AMD Ryzen lineup is expected to produce another powerful CPU with a 12-core/14-threaded unit that will complement the said release of AMD's HEDT X390 platform. AMD's newest processor has been spotted by Videocardz in an Alienware Area 51-R3 PC. This news suggests that AMD is far from ending its take on dominating the processor market.

In addition, the said AMD Ryzen with 12-core/14-thread features a new socket and turbo clock at 3.2 GHz, Guru 3D reported. This indicates that this new unit is the cut-down version of premium AMD Ryzen with 16-core and 8-thread which will compete directly with the rumored X390/X399 chipset, TweakTown added.

The new processor appears under the Engineering Sample code 2D2701A9UC9F4_32/27_N (2N 6M 24T 2.7GHz, 12x 512kB L2, 8x 8MB L3). According to Guru3D, the sampling entails that the AMD Ryzen with 12 cores and 14 threads appears in quality First Generation and Second Generation Z for Desktop/Server. Thus, the appearance of this 12-core completes AMD Ryzen's core options that include 32, 16, 8, 6 and 4 core processors.

If AMD is keen on creating a new platform, this means the appearance of AMD Ryzen with 12 cores is clear indication that the company is headed in a new direction. Therefore, the AMD team has to accomplish a more serious problem in its CPU expansion specifically the low latency of its L3 caches in each CCX. This glitch makes its performance suffer every time a thread migrates to a different core.

Moreover, the 16-core AMD Ryzen CPU is expected to run at 3.1GHz to 3.6GHz, TechPowerUp reported. However, the report remains unconfirmed but considering such spec for a processor that runs in as many cores and processor, clock speed is often taken aback as the compromise for a heavily threaded workload. Thus, a 16-core CPU running at around 3GHz is a desirable alternative.
