With the imminent release of the next Android version, Nougat is likely to be aside in the corner anytime soon. However, it is unknown to many that the latest Android version has its own set of coolest features that will put Android 8.0 or Oreo to shame.

App Optimization

This feature allows the apps to be optimized especially those power hungry ones to avoid battery consumption even when idle. However, apps like Facebook and Facebook Messenger continue to consume more battery despite being optimized, Guiding Tech reported.

Refreshed Notification Bundles

Annoying notifications like discount coupons can now be blocked by doing long-press on them and choose "Block all notifications". But if the users wish not to block the notifications at all, he can tap the "Show notification silently" to mellow down a bit.

Power Notifications

This is by far the most unique feature of Android Nougat where users are able to set an importance level from 0 to 5 to an app's notifications with 5 being the most important. To be able to activate the feature, users need to head to notification menu found in Settings.

Split-Screen Apps

This feature is widely available to all devices that run Nougat. Long-pressing the overview button of an opened app will enable the split-screen mode where the currently opened up will move to the top of the display while the list of other recent apps appear on the bottom, Extreme Tech reported.

Quick Switch App

To avoid hassles in moving into another app, Android Nougat will make switching more convenient through this feature. By just tapping the overview button, users can jump from one app to another easily or a quick double tap of overview can also the thing for you.

On the other hand, Android O is said to be prioritizing on battery and performance by putting automatic limits on each apps on their background activities. However, since there are only two to three percent Android users who reportedly upgraded to Nougat, the next version of Android is likely to be snob most especially when most users are still on Android Marshmallow.
