Developing markets like India and other countries in Asia are home to low-end phones which often referred to as "candy-bar" phones. These phones are affordable but offer only basic features; however, through Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform, a chance to get to taste the high-end features from premium smartphones is possible.

The 205 mobile chipset is Qualcomm's newly released platform to provide feature enhancements to low-end smartphones which are common in developing markets. Through the newly launched chipsets, candy-bar phones will be equipped with 4G LTE network which has become prevalent in Brazil and India nowadays, Fortune reported.

Most of the basic phone today such as Nokia 3310 utilizes the 2G connectivity for calls and texts but through Qualcomm 2015 mobile chipsets, low-end phones connectivity will be upgraded into LTE with a speed of 150 megabits per second (quite slower than the usual 4G with a speed of 1GB per second). For this reason, better call quality and more reliable connections can be achieved.

Furthermore, Qualcomm 205 mobile chipset will also bring basic internet functionalities like web browsing, sending e-mails and engaging with social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Gaming from the small screen of candy-bar phones will also be enhanced and less pixelated.

The Adreno GPU integrated in Qualcomm 205 mobile chipset also enable the users to stream 480p video which makes commuting hours more fun and exciting. The chipsets also support a modest 3MP rear camera and 0.3MP selfie snapper, PC World reported.

Another set of high-end features include voice-over LTE and securing payment through online which is slowly becoming a trend today. However, since Qualcomm 205 mobile chipset is reportedly supporting candy-bar phones coded with Linux, Android and Windows low-end phones will not be able to get the high-end features as of the moment.

This latest breakthrough in the mobile industry is considered beneficial not only to the consumers but also the manufactures as well. For developing countries where income is lesser, candy-bar phones are more preferable than premium smartphones.
