Nokia 8 hasn't arrived yet but it's been tipped to feature monstrous specs. A recent report from a reputable media outlet suggests that Nokia 8 will not be a high-end phone. It might not even take on Samsung Galaxy S8.

Previously, fans were trolled with the Nokia 8 impressive specifications. Starting from a Snapdragon 835 SoC to a 24 MP rear camera from Zeiss - these hardware setup is tempting but apparently, the latest report suggests another story.

According to a familiar source, Nokia 8 is said to rock a Snapdragon 660 instead, Forbes wrote. This would place Nokia as a mid-ranger that competes with Moto phones or Xiaomi Redmi series. Under the hood, the company's first Android handset will have 3200 mAh battery capacity and two choices of storage space, 64 GB and 128 GB.

There will be a fingerprint scanner at the front panel with USB type C port for charging. Nokia 8 will sport a 5.7-inch display according to reports. If the 835 chip series doesn't end up in the device, it is unlikely for Nokia 8 to have a camera up to 24 MP unit.

As far as the design is concerned, Nokia 8 will have thin bezels and metal clad, according to Nokia Power User. The portfolio hasn't been fully unveiled yet but the described specs should be able to tell Nokia's direction.

It is plausible that HMD Global will set Nokia 8 to compete with other middle-class smartphones rather than trying to shoot down premium flagships, like iPhone 7 or Galaxy S7. To recall, Nokia and HMD Global has just made a comeback with a few series of smartphones, including the classic Nokia 3310 that surprisingly survives the smartphone industry even with its 'old platform'.

It is safe to assume that Nokia will prepare affordable smartphones to cater wider audience while slowly capturing the hearts of Android users. Nokia 8 is expected to debut in June 2017.
