Whether or not the PC and laptop processor fight between Intel and AMD is over, the latter has its new found place in the heart of smartphones and smartwatches. Spreadtrum SC9861C and Intel Atom Z34XX are the two powerful chipsets inside the next-gen phones and wearables.

Getting to Know the Most Powerful SoC in a Smartphone

Last 2016, Intel decided to stop producing chipsets for smartphones and decide to focus on developing LTE and 5G modems as well as microprocessors for other devices. However, during the Mobile World Congress, everyone is surprised when Intel and Spreadtrum introduced the SC9861G-IA chipsets, an Intel Atom octocore SoC for smartphone made through 14nm process technology with LTE.

Spreadtrum SC9861G-IA succeeds MooreField SoCs (2014) made using 22nm process technology and SoFIA chips (2015) using 28nm technologies. According to AnandTech, the new smartphone chipset is powerful because it has more cores, better graphics and faster modem but energy-efficient in another way around.

However, the chipset is reportedly not carrying the Intel Atom brand because both parties agreed that Intel will not invest anything for the advertising. Until now, it is not yet certain as to what particular devices the chipset will show up but one thing's for sure, the two companies will reportedly showcasing it in tablets.

Intel Wishes to Preserve Smartwatches for Many Years

An Intel Atom Z34XX found in the luxury watch TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 describes one of the world chipmaker's plan in the futures - to preserve the smartwatches for over a hundred years. According to PC World, Intel Atom chipsets has the capability to last regardless the number of Android versions have passed.

Aside from the smartwatch longevity, the Intel Atom chipsets could also bring other features related to security akin to mobile payments via NFC. AI features that can be carry through smartwatch apps and waterproof within 50 meters amidst the presence of a headphone jack are also among the associated features of Intel smartwatch chipset.
