The Microsoft Surface Book 2, which is anticipated to roll out with Microsoft Surface Pro 5 in April 2017, will reportedly be cheaper compared to its predecessor. This price cut of the upcoming Microsoft device comes with a price catch. The tech giant is said to ditch the 2-in1 mode of the gadget.

The Redmond, Washington based tech titan is said to be getting rid of the tablet feature of its upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2, Digitimes reported. Recently surfaced reports claimed that the tech giant plans to launch the device in a traditional look with a 13.5-inch display size. The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is now rumored to roll out with a price tag lower than $1,000. The tag price of the entry-level model of the original device was $1,499 although the original Surface Book is currently available at a discounted price of $1,299.

It has been said that the reason why the tech company made some changes in the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is that the detachable screen design conflicts with the Microsoft Surface Pro line, which can be utilized as a laptop and a tablet. Due to the clash, the tech company saw a limited demand for the original device, the tech giant shipped only 500,000 devices last year. Microsoft is speculated to launch around 1.2 million to 1.5 million units, which is higher compared to the previous year's numbers, according to Gadgets 360.

Nevertheless, the tech company appears to be working hard in the final preparation for its upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2. Reports are mounting up on the internet that the device has already entered production and the company will unveil the device within the next few weeks. As the tech titan is expected to officially launch the Windows 10 Creators Update on April 2017, it's possible that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 could launch alongside the update and the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
