CEO Satya Nadella hints that Microsoft is working on an ultimate mobile device and the crowds are anticipating a Surface Phone with its Continuum. Here's the detail!

Microsoft has launched successful devices like the Surface Pro hybrid and Surface Book laptops. A Surface Phone will be a perfect companion for such desktop-class hardware. A recent report suggests that the upcoming Surface Phone will have a foldable display. This quickly reminds us of Samsung foldable Galaxy X which is set to launch this year.

The rumor didn't pop out of nowhere as a report from Marshall Town claimed that Microsoft already filed a patent of flexible hinge structure back in January. The media outlet went on to describe the Surface Phone as a 'tablet slash smartphone', ideal for browsing or watching video when folded or unfolded.

Specs-wise, Microsoft is said to equip Surface Phone with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display. It will rock a Snapdragon 835 chip with 128 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM. The Zeiss optics will have 23 MP unit for its rear camera and 8 MP sensor for the front-facing shooter.

As a Windows 10 mobile phone, the Surface Phone will have a Continuum feature that enables it to perform as powerful as a desktop PC. It is uncertain how Microsoft would build the handset but if the Surface Phone turns out to be a folding device, it may not come cheap.

The device is expected to launch at $699 for the base model. Microsoft could be launching a mid-ranger variant with lesser RAM space.

The phone is highly-anticipated this year but Express learned from a former employee of Microsoft contractor, that there will be a huge delay on its release due to the Redstone 3 update. The source continued that the Redmond giant might schedule a 2018 launch instead. However, the video from Trusted Reviews below suggests that Microsoft Surface Phone will make a debut this year with powerful specifications.
