Google Chrome 57 net browsing app is Google's answer to users who needs more battery life in their laptops and energy saving solution to extend their energy consumption in dealing with their daily desktop errands. Chrome 57 update has already rolled out last Mar. 14 and currently available for download.

According to Google's Chromium Blog, Google Chrome 57 aces the new tech breakthrough that will aid Chrome users in saving up energy via throttling background tabs. The blog added that Chrome 57 update goes in accordance to Chrome's key pillars which states that efficient power usage is an essential aspect of speed.

Google Chrome 57 works by delaying OS timers in limiting CPU load to an average of 1percent of the core whenever the web application uses too much CPU. The update aims to regulate Chrome's power usage on computers which exceeds over one-third of standard tab battery requirement, Engadget reported.

Although Google Chrome 57's priority is to minimize browser's impact of the energy department, the update, however, holds to command over tabs playing audio and those that maintains real-time connections. For example, Chrome 57 has no effect on either WebSockets or WebRTC.

Conversely, this version 57 kicks off the Chromes sojourn to effective and efficient background tab throttling. Google Chrome 57 will provide better limits on resource utilization on users' daily dose of browsing.

As of today, Google Chrome 57 is garnering positive impact from loyal users. One commenter who had the tested the update noted that he have about 80 Chrome tabs open right on his work laptop and the computer is running just fine.

While the majority of commenters commended Google Chrome 57, there are still some who are unhappy with the latest update. For example, CharlieTX3 preferred Opera for his browser because "Opening 3 to 4 tabs in Chrome is equivalent to putting a 50-pound weight around the user's neck."
