It's now official that Nokia 8 does not fall under the category of a flagship smartphone because it will be fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipsets instead of Snapdragon 835 that was previously mentioned. Nevertheless, the newly comeback device will feature a QHD screen resolution and faster chipsets.

Nokia 8 as Non-Flagship Smartphone is Part of HMD Global's Strategy

It is very likely that everyone would think about Nokia 8 as a boring smartphone with lack of innovations and attractive selling points. However, from the manufacturer's point of view, the absence of the "monster spec" in a comeback phone could be a part of their marketing strategy, Forbes reported.

To recall, Nokia-branded phones have been out from the market for quite some time thus, it's difficult for the company to go on a head-to-head battle to major players in the industry like Apple and Samsung. For this reason, offering cheaper smartphones is the only means to draw closer to larger group of consumers who would not think twice in grabbing of the affordable ones.

If Nokia 8 is HMD Global's means of testing the waters, then it's likely possible for them to release their two flagship smartphones later. Since the company is reportedly releasing 6 to 7 smartphones in 2017, the two remaining phones could be the company's biggest weapons against the giants.

Nokia 8 Has Great Specs and Features Despite

Despite being identified outside the flagship category, Nokia 8 is reportedly equipped with high-performing specs and features. According to Android Guys, aside from the 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 660 with Adreno 512 GPU, an LPDDR4 RAM can also be found under the phone's chassis, contributing to the phone's faster performance.

Moreover, Nokia 8 is also said to sport a QHD display, fast charging and fingerprint scanner. The upcoming device is also expected to feature a 24MP camera equipped with Zeiss Optics, X10 LTE modem and super-fast UFS storage.
