The Google Nexus 7 (2017) is expected to have the brand new Android and Chromebook OS hybrid, the Andromeda that brings with it PC-like execution capabilities. The new tablet edges other contenders like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and iPad Pro 2 with an exciting new feature, the Daydream View VR compatibility.

Google Nexus 7 (2017) Gets Andromeda OS

The Google Nexus 7 (2017) will feature the brand new Andromeda OS which will give the tablet execution capabilities just like a PC. It will also herald a milestone for Google, which hopes to copy what Microsoft did with Windows 10 and Windows mobile. Andromeda OS could be the universal OS for all Google devices according to GigJets. However, the only downside is that it may cause problems with third party developers who are more familiar with Android affirming other rumor that the tablet may stick to the Android Nougat 7.1.1.

Google Nexus 7 (2017) Adds VR Capability

The latest report indicates an exciting new feature in the upcoming tablet, which is the Daydream View VR compatibility. As of present, the tablet is too large for the current headset and Google is reported to be working on a new and much bigger one. This is, in fact, causing a delay in the unveiling of the latest Nexus tablet, which is expected to arrive more or less at the same time with its closest rivals. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will have a March 24 release while the iPad Pro 2 lineup may arrive at the end of this month or by April.

Google Nexus 7 (2017) Tablet Revives The Nexus Brand

The high-end tablet market gets more interesting as Google may be joining the fray with a Nexus revival. The Google Nexus 7 (2017) has been making the rounds ever since Google decided to drop the Chromebook Pixel laptops to focus more on smartphones and tablets. The said device did not appear in 2016 but the Google Pixel and Pixel XL did, which brings 2017 as the most likely year to unveil the much awaited Google Nexus 7 (2017).

The Nexus brand has far more recognizability in the global scene than the Pixels, which are struggling to get a strong foothold in the international market. Moreover, the recent security updates for the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X further fuels speculations of a Nexus brand revival that started with an Evan Blass leak last year. The renowned leakster with an impeccable record of making accurate predictions has uploaded a document revealing the specs of an unannounced Google Nexus 7.

The reported specs and features on the upcoming Google Nexus 7 (2017) starts with a 7.0-inch AMOLED display with 2560x1440 pixels alongside a large pixel density. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset or higher with 6GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in memory, and up to 2TB of expandable memory according to Neurogadget. It also supports a USB Type-C port with a 13MP rear camera and 8MP selfie camera. More than just the specs, the latest Nexus iteration captured the interest of the Android community for being a "pure" Android tablet versus those offered by Samsung and Apple.
