Samsung is dedicated to clearing the name of their Note brand after the exploding battery fiasco of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The tech giant is planning big things for the defective phone's successor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

The Galaxy Note 8 may not be everyone's sole focus right now, what with the Galaxy S8 gearing up for a release date next month. Still, reports and speculations about the next Note flagship pop up on the internet every now and then, and one of the most recent ones is claiming that the smartphone will have a dual rear camera system, Phone Arena reported.

The dual cameras were previously expected for the Galaxy S8, but Samsung appears to have postponed the feature for the Galaxy Note 8 instead. Phones with two cameras on its back -- like the iPhone 7 Plus -- possess a triple zoom capability and better focus.

The iPhone 7 Plus' Portrait mode, which blurs backgrounds much like a DSLR camera would, was made possible by the dual camera system. The LG G6, meanwhile, uses its dual camera system to capture more angles within one frame, meaning the photographs you take using the phone is wider and has more contexts.

It remains to be seen how Samsung would use the dual camera system on the Galaxy Note 8. The handset, like the Galaxy S8, will be powered by the company's own powerful chipset, the Exynos 8895. The latter is more than capable of supporting dual cameras and providing 28 MP resolutions for both rear and front-facing cameras.

Samsung said that their dual camera system will feature two varying sensors: a "high quality" and another with "low power." The latter could have a smaller resolution and is probably only meant for adding effects to an image. Bear in mind, however, that these are all wild speculations for now and we have yet to get Samsung's official word on the matter.

Samsung reportedly labeled the Galaxy Note 8 with the codename "Great," proving their commitment to avoid any blunders similar to what the Galaxy Note 7 experienced. The phone is also said to carry the model number SM-N950F, SamMobile reported.

Other expected features for the Galaxy Note 8 are a 4K SuperAMOLED display, a 6.2-inch screen made bigger by thinner top and bottom bezels, a slim 8mm body and the LineageOS. The latter is based on the Android Open Source Project.

The Galaxy Note 8 could have a fall 2017 release date. Samsung is currently working with Japanese manufacturer, Murata Manufacturing, to ensure battery safety. The Galaxy Note 7's battery was supplied by Chinese company, Amperex Technology.
