The Pixel 2 announcement has left fans questioning the existence of Nexus device. Will there be anymore Nexus coming this year?  

1. Google could consider an affordable Pixel 2

The latest rumor on Pixel 2 suggests that Google will launch an affordable model this year, according to Tech Radar. There is no further detail on what the device will look like but fans have assumed that an 'affordable Pixel 2' could actually be a Nexus phone.

So far, Nexus devices have been the premium phone set with much more affordable price than a Pixel and it's designed for budget concern. Nexus smartphones have the powerful specs built by the respective OEM but all are bringing pure Android experience. Plus, Google has always been prioritizing Nexus devices in term of support and software update.

2. Nexus (and Pixel) fans are disappointed

Recently, the first generation of Pixel device is reportedly getting a revision. Yahoo News learned that many users have reported bugs and audio issue while some complained about the hardware problems.

The reported issues are considered as a warning that such expensive device should be free from flaw without having to ask for a fix. This incident have even made tech geeks doubt that Pixel 2 successor could win the hearts of Nexus fans.

3. Google Pixel 2 will be pricey

Nexus fans are quite disappointed with Google's decision to focus on Pixel instead of Nexus brand after Rick Osterloh made an official announcement that Pixel successor will still be a premium device.

The hike in pricing is considered as ridiculous to some people in Android Stuff forum since the only 'Pixel great features' have been the unlimited photo storage and quick support. Even the Google Assistant is no longer exclusive. And compared to a Nexus 6P device, Pixel optics don't receive any gain except a tweak in software.

With all of that being the case, Pixel 2 is designed to cater high-end users but there will be a lack of stock Android phones in mid-ranger category. It is safe to argue that a Nexus phone refresh will be much appreciated by tech crowds.

Pixel 2 speculated specs

Pixel 2 is rumored to use a Snapdragon 835 chip under the hood. Another enticing speculation is that Google might equip Pixel 2 with bigger base storage. Expected improvements in specs include water-resistant chassis, 4 gigs of RAM and Android 8 pre-installed, Trusted Reviews has learned.
