Previously dubbed as the hottest Android smartphone of the year, Samsung Galaxy S8 now seems to "lack attractive selling points." If that is the case, Apple's iPhone 8 might be a bigger hit to mobile fans all over the world.

Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is allegedly worse than its predecessor, the Galaxy S7. According to experts, the latter is still the smarter choice in terms of specs and affordability. This is quite a bad news for the company as the S8 is expected to be its last chance to go back to its glory days after the Note 7 fiasco.

According to the Daily Mail, a renowned analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a hard time outselling the older Galaxy S7. The new variant, unfortunately, will also struggle to match the upcoming iPhone 8. Per the same source, the S8 arrives not later than March 29.

Kuo predicts that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have at least 40 to 45 million units shipped this year. Though the numbers are not that bad, they are still lower than the 52 million Galaxy S7 handsets shipped in 2016. Except for the edge-to-edge screen and improved cameras, Kuo noted, the S8 has no more strong points.

To further illustrate, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features the iconic fingerprint scanner at the back. Meanwhile, more recent image leaks reveal that the gadget may be equipped with another iris scanner. The home button has been removed to maximize the 5.8" display.

CNBC reported that there are only two things the Samsung Galaxy S8 has that the iPhone 8 failed to add. Kuo explained that the S8 features a headphone jack and a USB-C connector. The iOS device basically opted for wireless technology.

On the other hand, the iPhone 8 thrives with an OLED screen. Its predecessor, the iPhone 7, showcased the traditional LCD model. Various mobile experts claim that the newer screens have brighter displays and better power efficiencies. Al in all, both the iPhone 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 faces a crucial year as the competition tightens with the surge of rival brands like Huawei.
