One device conspicuously absent from the Mobile World Congress 2017 is the Xiaomi Mi 6. With rival brands taking advantage of Samsung’s decision to delay the Samsung Galaxy S8, it would have been the perfect time to push their flagship offering for 2017.

The XIaomi Mi 6 no-show was a bit surprising considering the Xiaomi Mi 5 appeared at MWC 2016. The Chinese company may have its reasons though limiting exposure and advertising hardly comes as a surprise. Even without the push, Xiaomi has proven to be a device to look forward to but in select locations. In fact, it has been notorious for being always out of stock.

Two Xiaomi Mi 6 devices debuting next month

With no sighting of the Xiaomi Mi 6, leaks and unofficial claims will have to suffice for now. The word out is that the device will emerge on April 16 sporting impressive features according to MyDrivers.com reported.

There will reportedly be two variants coming out – a 5.15- and 5.7-inch model. Both will come armed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoCs and make use of Sony’s IMX400 sensor. This is the same 3-layer stacked CMOS imager that is featured on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and XZs, GSM Arena noted. If true, it goes against the previous belief that the Xiaomi Mi 6 would make use of an IMX386.

General specs of the Xiaomi Mi 6

Other specs the Xiaomi Mi 6 will reportedly have include 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The larger variant, most likely the Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus, will have 4 GB or RAM as well but with a higher 64 GB internal storage according to Gizmo China. Expected to first come out in China, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is estimated to be priced at $289 while the bigger variant may run for about $360. There is no official word yet on whether Xiaomi will offer and make it available in other regions.
