The next Surface Pro device is expected to get plenty of revamps - including better battery and faster performance. With Microsoft's latest announcement, it is safe to say that fans could see an ARM-based processor inside a Surface Pro in the future.

The next Surface Pro will have a better power efficiency - that's what reports have been stating so far. The obvious reason for this, is the fact that Surface Pro 4 has the unexpected battery life. An ARM-based chip would be a problem solver for Surface Pro 5 as it is reportedly able to improve the power and LTE connectivity, according to The Verge.

Furthermore, an ARM-based chip could support a customized product design. Besides the power, the mobile chip will allow a device to house the powerful specs it needs - which translates to a more flexible SoC than X86, for instance.

On the architectural side, the ARM-based chip is able to power various mobile devices, from smartphones to tablets. TIME has learned that in term of sales and pricing, the chip outsold Intel's.

The Surface Pro 5 is said to feature a 2K display for the standard model and a 4K display for high-end model. This is in line with ARM's latest unveiling of graphics chip that supports 2.5K and 4K display.

It has the capability to maintain the color production quality and given that it has powered 4K smart TVs, it is plausible to come to a desktop-class hybrid device like the upcoming Surface Pro 5.

Recently, Microsoft announced its partnerships with ARM chips manufacturers and it is obviously a huge project that the Redmond company has to hold a special event to confirm. Bloomberg noted that ARM-based processors could push the hardware limit while cutting the price. In the case of Surface Pro 5, the SoC will enable the tablet to get loads of upgrades while still giving full Windows 10 experience.
