NVIDIA Volta has been in sidelines of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti until it has been discovered by benchmarking experts who were trying to uncover more details regarding the latter's specs and feature. The discovery unexpectedly uncovered NVIDIA's glorified GPU architecture that will counter AMD Vega 10 that currently sweeping close to perfect scores in recent benchmarking tests.

According to Segment Next, NVIDIA Volta GPU, whose flagship PCI device ID is 1D81 = Graphics Device GV100, is slated to be revealed at the GPU Technology Conference in May. The report added that the latest AIDA64 update includes the GV100 which will be NVIDIA's new GPU and will complete the Volta GPU architecture.

The said GPU will power the whole architecture to make the "full fat" Volta GPU which will top the 2018 lineup. Aside from these details, NVIDIA Volta GPU architecture will feature the HBM2 technology.at different levels of card and DDR6. This GDDR6 is reportedly able to deliver memory speeds of 16Gbps up from the current 10Gbps similar to GDDR5X capacity.

Meanwhile, one of the Volta graphic card is being sent back to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to manufacture 12nm Volta GPUs, PC Games N reported. NVIDIA Volta GPU architecture was originally planned to sport the 10nm process.

However, the pace of transistor shrinkage has declined and slowed down in recent years but NVIDIA is reportedly keeping TSMC's 16nm tech in order to beat its deadline and follow up their original where they will be able to sell the actual Volta GPUs on the shelves by 2018.

Meanwhile, as per NVIDIA Volta GPU's release date, if it fails to make an appearance during the GPU Tech Conference in May, it will most probably assume the originally planned launching at Oak Ridge National Laboratory's new Summit supercomputer in 2018.
