Out of the massive industry gaming made in society, the same industry has produced another billion-dollar generating business, which is allowing people to watch other people play. The game streaming industry is among the most popular type of online events ever and it has now become a billion-dollar industry in itself.

Platforms such as Twitch and Youtube gaming have massively capitalized on this phenomenon hosting different kinds of game streams ranging from walkthroughs, playthrough, online competition and more. Different companies also have jumped on the bandwagon and started hosting big events and competition and profiting by the allure of people watching the best play their favorite games.

Like the arena of old, cyber gladiators are pitched one against the other on a virtual showdown, which people, like the old romans do, love. It has been estimated that by 2021, the video streaming market will be worth 70 billion dollars and a massive chuck of that market will be game streams and online E-sports.

Ever since video games were developed, competition has been a common part of the experience. LAN parties, online multiplayer matches and online competitions are mainstream features of almost all Triple A games ever released. People loved playing with other people and people also love watching people battle against other people.

Statistics show that Twitch alone manages to receive 100 million unique views every month. In 2014, Riot games tournament racked it 27 million viewers online. As of 2015, the video game market is worth $16 billion already, while the video game streaming industry is roughly around $3.5 billion. These figures vividly show that massiveness of this industry and how it will affect the economic structure of business in the future. Video games is no longer a small past time of nerdy people who live in the basement of their parents, but an industry that can rival any company Wall street can produce.
