Two new models of the Honda Clarity will debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show next month.

One model is a plug-in hybrid set to lead the production of the Honda Clarity series. It sports a decent 40-mile driving range and will retail in all 50 states. The other variant is an electric car boasting a higher 80-mile driving range. Honda may price the latter vehicle at about $35,000.

Honda Clarity: Quick Preview

According to the New York Daily News, Honda is the first major carmaker to offer a fuel variant, an electric powertrain, and plug-in hybrid on the same series of vehicles. In this particular case, the Honda Clarity is highly likely to be the only brand with all three domains. The move, actually, is part of the company's mission to "electrify" the majority of its global sales by 2030.

The three Honda Clarity variants sport similar aerodynamic design in front. Nonetheless, the manufacturer vowed to provide unique styles for each car alongside a spacious interior scheme with eco-friendly materials. For the record, Honda may use the so-called "vegan leather".

On the other, the Honda Clarity showcases an infotainment system with Display Audio. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay too. Its trademark driver assistance package, the Honda Sensing, is present as usual.

FCX vs Honda Clarity

Per Automobile Mag, the new Honda Clarity replaces the FCX line. Boasting a 33 percent smaller fuel cell, it also sports a 60 percent power density increase. The driving range is approximately 36 miles on one tank of hydrogen.

The Honda Clarity accommodates up to five people. Honda promises that the variants would be very affordable too. However, no specific and official price details have been released at the moment. Nevertheless, it revealed early photos of the three Clarity midsize sedans to tease customers.
