Blizzard is getting more serious about Overwatch experience farming. The company this week started to crack down on Overwatch players that farm XP. Blizzard starts the massive clean up this week.

Earlier this month, Blizzard announced an extensive set of new custom game tools for Overwatch and it didn't take long for Overwatch players to start exploiting the newly released Overwatch feature. Some Overwatch players have started to use custom game rules, creating XP farming servers in Overwatch's Game Browser. The exploit allows them to earn experience and even more of the game's precious loot boxes.

As mentioned earlier by Polygon, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has been very disappointed in the news about experience farming and has posted a comment on the Overwatch Battle.net forums. Additionally, Blizzard also posted on the forums, saying that Blizzard is taking action and putting some countermeasures in place to curb this experience farming.

According to Kotaku, Blizzard is currently working on some kind of internal escalation plan for dealing with this kind of problems. The first action Blizzard taking today is about taking disciplinary action against Overwatch players who abused the systems. This means issuing a ban.

In addition to the ban, Blizzard has also implemented the AFK timer and removed experience gains in Skirmish mode in custom games, the gaming website also added. However, if those countermeasures prove inadequate, Blizzard will remove XP gain completely from the custom games.

Blizzard's Overwatch team first announced the Overwatch's Game Browser as a means to allow players to share custom game modes with others. But unlike the standard custom game mode, the Overwatch's Game Browser allows players to radically modify the entire Overwatch gaming experience and even allows players to find other custom games.

In other Overwatch-related news, Blizzard this week released Binary, a new Overwatch digital comic and a kind of a sequel to The Last Bastion. Overwatch has been busy working on something that will keep Overwatch fans engaged. This may include a steady stream of free content and sometimes new characters, like the upcoming tank Orisa. The digital comic is another good idea that will keep fans connected with Overwatch.
