Bandai Namco has some bad news for this week. Bandai Namco's fighting video game "Tekken 7" won't be receiving cross-platform play between PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Bandai Namco made the huge announcement this week on Twitter.

For a starter, "Tekken 7" is a fighting video game developed and published by the Japanese gaming giant Bandai Namco Entertainment. "Tekken 7" is the ninth installment in the action-packed Tekken series, and the first game in the Tekken series to make use of the powerful Unreal Game Engine.

The news about the cross-play comes from the official Australian Bandai Namco Twitter account, according to Wccftech. Additionally, "Tekken 7" producer Katsuhiro Harada also posted on Twitter, saying that the lack of cross-platform support has something to do with the first party and platform security policy issue.

As explained earlier by the game producer on Twitter, the security policy implemented by the console makers (Microsoft and Sony) cannot be used among the three gaming platforms including the Windows PC. This also means that Tekken fans will need to convince the two companies if they want to have cross-platform support on "Tekken 7."

The game developer believes that the cross-play features will not be a good idea at this time. It could split the player base and, at the same time, give either gaming platform an unfair advantage over the other. Game producer Katsuhiro Harada also recently revealed on Twitter about another potential big hurdle on the horizon, stating that the reputation of PC gamers as being cheaters is what hindering the developer's decision to enable cross-platform support.

Last year, "Tekken 7" designer Michael Murray has posted some message on Twitter, telling the Tekken fans to ask the console manufacturers (Microsoft and Sony) about cross-platform features. Based on the tweeted message, Murray claims that Microsoft has already announced its strong interest to have a cross-platform support, but Sony made no further comment about this issue.

While the cross-platform feature is still being planned on the drawing table, Bandai Namco will continue to expand "Tekken 7," adding a new character to the roster. The latest addition is Eddy Gordo. Bandai Namco is set to release its competitive fighting game "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" on PC, PS4, and Xbox One this coming June 2.
