Aston Martin revealed the godly name of its new supercar -Valkyrie.

Previous rumors claimed that the AM-RB 001 model will bear the name Nebula. However, Aston Martin announced at the Geneva Motor Show that it will continue its fascination with names beginning with letter 'V'. The project is a partnership between Aston and Red Bull.

Aston Martin: Valkyrie power & design

While details are still limited, various media outfits believe that the new Aston Martin car will wear a Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. They measure about 265/35 in front and 325/30 at the back. The Michelin tires would be connected to lightweight magnesium allow wheels that measure around 20 and 21 inches at the front and back.

Moreover, these wheels have race-spec center-lock nuts to reduce unsprung mass. According to Telegraph, Marek Reichman, CEO of Aston Martin, said that the names of their cars have deep meaning. For one thing, they need to inspire and excite customers.

"The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an incredibly special car that demands an equally remarkable name," Reichman noted. He added that the Valkyrie is an "uncompromising car" that leaves noting in reverse. According to the CEO, the power and honor of being "chosen by the gods' are so evocative and pertinent to a car that only the elite will ever experience.

Valkyrie etymology - Aston Martin hyper car

Top Gear reported that Aston Martin got the name Valkyrie from Norse Mythology. It means a "group of maidens who served the god Odin and were sent by him to the battlefields." Simply put, Valkyrie is a group of females who take the fallen warriors to Vahalla, the "hall of slain".

On the other hand, Valkyrie is the latest in a long line of Aston Martin vehicles with names that begin with "V". Ever since te Vantage badge appeared in 1951, the company never left the trend. Thus, the cars that followed it were named Vanquish, Virage, Volante, and Vulcan.
