Aside from brining Galaxy S8 and Note 8 to the market this year, Samsung is also reportedly releasing a unique handset that could possibly become the world's first foldable phone. The Galaxy X or Project Valley is said to be Samsung's new gimmick for 2017 and it is already prepared for global criticisms including negative feedbacks.

Get to Know Samsung's New Gimmick for 2017

Among the major smartphones manufacturer, Samsung is the current headline maker when it comes to filing trademarks and pattern for a foldable phone. In fact, GSM Arena reported that the South Korean tech firm is about to bring out the so-called "Project Valley" from the lab going to the consumers' hands.

In relative to that, Mobile Chief and President of Samsung Electronics revealed that the hardware components of the foldable phone or the presumed Galaxy X are already completed. The phones will be referred to as Galaxy X1 and Galaxy X1 Plus in which the former will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android 7.0 Nougat for the latter.

No further details about Galaxy X specs and features have been spilled off. But some reports claim that Samsung has done a private demo of the device to a group of selected media, retailers/distributors and industry partners during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Samsung Prepares Galaxy X for Global Criticisms

Since foldable phone marks a new trend in the smartphone industry, Samsung is likely to be preparing for the possible global criticisms including negative feedbacks the device might receive. As a result, the company reportedly plans to manufacture an initial number of 100,000 units while testing the waters for bendable phones in the market, according to Droid Report.

If Samsung sees a big potential for the revolutionized device, the company is expected to proceed to a massive production in 2018. LG is also expected to manufacture a foldable smartphone and is expected to follow Samsung's footsteps.
