There's been a huge disappointment in the smartphone industry as the latest rumors suggest that Nexus brand will be buried. Digging into the details, there's still a chance for a Nexus smartphone to release this year.

Google Pixel 2 is officially coming

Google's Rick Osterloh said that there will be a Pixel successor this year. There hasn't been any detail on Pixel 2 specs and release date but Google's official announcement has made it clear, it is coming, and it is expensive. Osterloh explanation indicated that a premium flagship is currently in the making albeit not stating the unveiling schedule, Forbes reported

Google seems to ambitiously keep up with the smartphone trend for high-end. From the price perspective, the Pixel phones don't cost cheap and there's clear evidence that Google is trying to take on Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S series.

With the Pixel aiming high to the sky, fans loving their Nexus phones more than ever, due to its value-for-money. Google does not respond to the Nexus death rumors but judging from the past and current Nexus products, there's been a wide range of Nexus handsets with different price range set by the OEM.

Google and its team may be working on the ultimately pricey Pixel 2 but according to Ars Technica, other manufacturers (like HTC and Huawei) would also come up with affordable handsets - probably another Nexus device?

Nokia goes clean with stock Android; will there be Nokia Nexus in the future?

Meanwhile, the MWC event last month packed surprises to visitors. The classic brand, Nokia, has come up with brand new smartphones that bring pure Android experience. Nokia 6 is the company's first Android device that will have a global launch soon. Of course, Nokia isn't releasing a Nexus device, rather, a Nexus-like handset but according to Digit, Google's support to the handsets will bring consistent experience and a more unified technology in the future.

Furthermore, Nokia Android smartphone lineups are sold at attractive pricings, much cheaper than the Pixel phones. While the future is uncertain, it is plausible for the company to manufacture a Nexus device in the future, given the positive feedbacks that Nokia 6 has earned so far, and the solid alternative it can become.

Do you think Nokia will manufacture the next Nexus phone?
