Google Hat might be the newest wearable camera for grabbing candid shots. However, the design looks pretty bad.

Actually, Google first proposed the Google Hat almost four years ago. Although it appeared to be technically useful, it was very poor in style. How weird is it? Read on to find out.

Google Hat: Odd concept

According to Slash Gear, the Google Hat is a baseball cap with a unique camera system. It sports a bone conduction speaker and a module that uses vibrations to direct the user's attention. Moreover, a microphone is placed somewhere near the camera on the cap's brim.

The Google Hat is powered by a built-in battery which makes it functional outdoors. A Bluetooth connection is also present for pairing with a smartphone. Well, whether this patent will ever turn into a real product is unclear at this time.

While baseball caps are not extremely rare, they are also not something many individuals are inclined to wear. On the other hand, even if the Google Hat does not make it to the market, the company has proven that it pays attention to the growing potential for wearable cameras. For the record, that market is currently dominated by Snapchat Spectacles.

Use of the Google Hat: Paparazzi thing

For one thing, the Google Hat comes in handy during an event or a family gathering. Users can Livestream the happenings from the perspective of their foreheads via their smartphones. Obviously, it seems to be perfect for people interested in paparazzi moments.  Aside from that, the patent can also send urgent images and GPS information to an "emergency situation" system server.

According to Mashable, the odd style of the Google Hat might be a problem since it was the same reason for the downfall of the Google Glass. Even so, a hat-mounted camera is still better than a shutter placed right in your face. Nonetheless, it is not too late to cross your fingers and wish for something quite better than this in terms of elegance and design.
