Surface Pro 5 official announcement is highly-anticipated this year. The hype of Samsung's newly-launched hybrid, Galaxy Book, has taken Surface Pro 4 popularity down a few notches but it won't be long until the next Surface generation is released.

The Surface Pro 4 is capable of handling the demanding software, hence, the fifth edition is expected to have a processor gain to meet the demands. It's been reported that the Surface Pro 5 will be released in two variants, 2K and 4K display, with professional tools including film and photo editors. The Pro device will feature an improved Surface Pen, which according to the leaked patent, it will have its own magnetic charging dock. 

It is time for Microsoft to integrate a USB type C port and add more features to the tablet. The rumors currently point at Intel Kaby Lake Core i7 processor to power up the Surface Pro 5. The 4K display model will be the top tier that should flaunt all the premium specs including a 4K display and a 16 gigs of RAM on board. For those hunting with a budget, Microsoft will ship Surface Pro 5 with lesser RAM spaces in the series.

Surface Pro vs Galaxy Book

Once the next-gen Surface Pro is launched, it will already have a rival to put into perspective, PC Advisor said. Samsung just announced a hybrid tablet, Galaxy Book, which flaunts a sleek design and powerful hardware under the hood.

Surface Pro 5 will likely be pitted against the premium model, 12-inch Galaxy Book. Samsung equips the hybrid device with Super AMOLED panel, 2160 x 1440 resolutions display and Intel Kaby Lake in tow, Wired wrote. It provides a 8 GB of RAM to support a speedy performance.   

When is the Surface Pro 5 release date?
