While Sony reserves the OLED panel for Xperia 2018, Apple and Samsung reportedly already have a plan to release OLED phone flagships this year.

Sony released Xperia XZ Premium a few days ago at MWC event. It does not rock an OLED display because Sony reportedly reserves the panel for 2018, as claimed by reputable media outlets. According to Softpedia, the major display overhaul is necessary to boost Sony flagship popularity.

The Xperia XZ Premium already flaunts impressive hardware for its optics and processor - adding an OLED display to the phone will surely make it a killer in 2018.

Apple iPhone 8

If rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 8 will be Apple's first iPhone to get an OLED panel. The specs detail is still scarce but Forbes has learned from familiar source that the next-gen iPhone will have its display taking the entire front panel.

According to reports, the stretched display is intentionally designed to fit the virtual buttons on it. This could benefit the iPhone 8 as more usable space means more functionality.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Apple will not be the only one to release an OLED smartphone this year. March is exciting month for Samsung fans as the South Korean giant is expected to launch Galaxy S8 with such display.

Reports have hinted at a partnership with LG Chem which will supply the display for Samsung. The rumor is backed by a leaked image of the phone that suggests it will have a better and bigger display with curved edges - and an OLED panel - like never before seen, according to BGR.

A demoed video in Korean language has also shown a Samsung smartphone sporting OLED display with an unfamiliar design. Tech crowds quickly assumed that it will be the standard model of Galaxy S8.
