Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) will be a priority of the Trump administration. President Donald Trump issued and signed an executive order Tuesday, February 28. Under the executive order, historically black colleges and universities will receive more funding from the government.

The move to reach out to Historically Black Colleges and Universities was first met with skepticism. Some thought it might be one way of converting them to the president's political party. However, there were those who felt overwhelmed by the president's move, according to The Washington Post.

President Donald Trump considered the signing of the executive order as a way of recognizing the role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the development and progress of African-American people. Presidents of the struggling HBCUs welcomed the more of the White House to give full support to these learning institutions.

Under the executive order, Historically Black Colleges and Universities will be given priority by the White House. The White House will see to it that these colleges and universities will be given funds for its smooth operation. Different government agencies will be working with HBCU as partners in its different programs. The HBCUs will work with the government in its move to create more jobs for residents of inner cities and to keep these places safe, according to Business Insider.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities welcomed the blacks during the time when they rejected by institutions with white students. These learning institutions produced men and women who became leaders in their own fields of endeavors.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities took pride in its outstanding alumni who had made a name in their profession. These included Oprah Winfrey and Key Wane, Randy Jackso and Toni Morrison to name a few, according to HCUBuzz.

Now that the Historically Black Colleges and Universities will enjoy support from the White House, struggling schools see hope and a better future.
