If there's one thing where Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X outshines Google Pixel phones, it's the former's brand global popularity that resulted to lower sales return of the latter. For this reason, Google is reportedly considering the revival of the "Best Android Phones" before Pixel.

Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X Updates

Old Nexus smartphones have been cut down from the program but they still continue to receive security patches from time to time, CNET reported. A year from now, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will be joining the squad of Google-supported hardware that were thrown out of the window of the company's Two-Year Update Guarantee.

To recall, Google has indirectly announced in an event last October 2016 the discontinuation of Nexus brand through ceasing out sending software updates. However, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X owners are surprised when their beloved smartphones have received Android 7.1.1 Nougat updates with new features.

And just recently, Android 7.1.2 beta is scheduled to roll out to Nexus 6P as build NPG0F which brings bug fixes and optimizations. For this reason, netizens speculate that Google has considered reviving the Nexus brand by way of coming out with Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X successors but there is no formal announcement from the search giant, thus, this information must not be taken seriously.

Pixel Phones are not as Popular as Nexus 6P

The rumored lower sales return of Pixel Phones is said to be the reason why Google reportedly considers a revival to Nexus brand. Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X were once considered as beacon of light for Android smartphones because it totally represents what an Android should be, Gadgets NDTV reported.

Furthermore, what makes Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X gained global popularity is the thought that they are the first smartphone that define what faster, better and versatile hardware should be. For some, the two Nexus smartphones will always represent an era of mobile excellence.
