The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones are receiving the February Security Update. The firmware version of the update for the Galaxy S7 is G930FXXU1DQB7, while the G935FXXU1DQB7 firmware version goes to the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Aside that the February Security Update fixes the smartphones' vulnerabilities, the update also comes along with performance optimizations and stability improvements. The February Security Patch will come to the handsets as an over-the-air (OTA) update. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge owners should note that the update is based on the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Wherein, users will need to install the recent Android Nougat update beforehand, according to Android Headlines.

The February Security Update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge contains patches for 58 different vulnerabilities, wherein some of the vulnerabilities are critical. One such vulnerability is CVE-2017-0405, which can make a person's device vulnerable to hackers who could remotely gain access into a device. In spite of that, The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones are expected to receive software updates for at least a couple more years.

Meanwhile, if the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users feel impatient, these users can download the February Security Update by heading over to Settings, About device, and then System Updates. From there, the users can manually check and grab the over-the-air (OTA) update. Nonetheless, before downloading the update, it is recommended that the users must ensure that their Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones have at least 50 percent charge, and also make sure that all the important data has been properly backed up, The Android Soul reported.

Nevertheless, Samsung recently rolled out the February Security Update for the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A8, as well as the Galaxy J5 (2016). Prior to that, the tech monster updated the Galaxy J5 Prime and J7 Prime.
