Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and quarterback Connor Shaw are ready to end their collegiate football careers at the Capital One Bowl, where their South Carolina Gamecocks (9) take on the Wisconsin Badgers (19).

Wisconsin and South Carolina come from different conferences and perhaps two of the more competitive ones, the Big Ten and SEC, respectively. They also have similar game plans: run the ball, limit turnovers and hold the opponent's point total down.

The Badgers defense ended the regular season ranked fifth in the nation, allowing an average of 14.8 points per game. They also ranked eight in rushing yards, putting up 283 per game.

On the other hand are the Gamecocks, who allowed an average of 13 points a game and ran for 205 yards per game. Both teams average more than 30 points on offense, but, led by Shaw, South Carolina has not committed a turnover in four games.

Both teams also had their sights set on a BCS bowl game this year and fell short. Wisconsin suffered a season-ending loss to the unranked Penn State and South Carolina finished strong but could not keep up with a highly competitive SEC.

"We're not taking this game lightly at all," Wisconsin safety Dez Southward told the school's official website. "This is an enormous game. Just because it's not the Rose Bowl, just because it's not a BCS bowl game, it doesn't mean the opponent is not the same caliber. That's the case with South Carolina. They're above and beyond almost anybody we've played this year." (Source: ESPN).

The loss may have left the team with a sour taste in their mouths, but Badgers' coach Gary Andersen gave credit where it was due.

"I can't sit back and say we had a bad week of practice, can't sit back and say I didn't feel like we were prepared," Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen said after the loss. "I'm going to say it again, I give a lot of credit to Penn State."

The 2014 Capital One Bowl appears to be an evenly matched game that will display two of the best defenses in nation.
