The MacBook Pro 2017 is expected to roll out with an extremely limited refresh of the MacBook Pro 2016. MacBook Pro 2017 is said to sport Intel's seventh-generation processor, Kaby Lake. Nevertheless, the processor upgrade of the MacBook Pro 2017 would not be much of a big deal.

The processor upgrade of MacBook Pro 2017 from Intel's Skylake to the Kaby Lake processor would not constitute a huge performance gain. According to Forbes, when a tech expert compared the performance of Dell's Skylake-based XPS 13 and Kaby Lake-based XPS 13, there has not been much difference. The same result when comparing the processor and SSD performance of a number of computers with Skylake and Kaby Lake processors.

Nonetheless, Intel's reason for the processor upgrade is not entirely inclined with hardware's performance improvement, but for the most part, it's with the power efficiency. Thus, the Cupertino based tech company might be focusing on improving the MacBook Pro 2017's battery life and heat dissipation.

In terms of specs, each new model of the MacBook Pro 2017 will sport a unique processor. The 13-inch MacBook Pro 2017 (without Touch Bar) will come along with Intel Core i5-7260U 2.2GHz coupled with an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640. While the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2017 with Touch Bar will be packed with the Intel Core i5-7267U 3.1GHz paired with an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650.

As for the release date, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, speculated the MacBook Pro 2017 updated with the Intel Kaby Lake processor rolls out later this year. Kuo says the new 12-inch MacBook 2017 starts mass production in the second quarter this year, with a potential of a new 16GB RAM model. Meanwhile, the 13 and 15 inch MacBook Pro 2017 variants fires up the mass production in the third quarter. The high-end 15-inch MacBook Pro with 32GB of RAM might see daylight in Q4 2017, PC Advisor reported.
