The Samsung Galaxy S8+ will reportedly have a 6.2-inch screen, larger than the iPhone 7 Plus' 5.5-inch display. The big design is needed to hold the dual edge curved "infinity display," which is expected to cover 83 percent of the entire front panel.

It has been previously reported that Samsung Galaxy S8 will have two different-sized models. The larger sibling will have a new label as the Samsung Galaxy S8+ dropping the "Edge" moniker that has been a favorite in the Galaxy lineup through various iterations. The South Korean also stresses that it will be the S8+ and not the S8 Plus, which indicates that Samsung wants to differentiate it from the iPhone, its closest rival.

It will be the biggest flagship device of Samsung since previous flagships like the ill-fated Note 7 had the smaller screen at only 5.7 inches. The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch screen while the S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch display. The latest flagship is going for a bigger panel, most likely due to its new design. The Samsung Galaxy S8+ will feature the dual-edge curved "infinity display," which will take up 83 percent of the handset's front panel.

Observers believe it is still a compact phone but may pose some difficulties when using only one hand. However, this is a small compromise to achieve the impeccable display that Samsung is known for. Also, the front panel has no home button and the Samsung logo will be relocated to the back. It will be placed just below a strangely positioned fingerprint sensor, Independent reported.

Other specs that have been reported on the Samsung Galaxy S8+ includes the Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560x1440 resolution. It also has the 12MP rear-facing snapper, the USB Type-C Port, and a headphone jack, which is good news for Samsung fans who fear that the South Koreans may follow Apple's move to replace the 3.5mm port. The S8+ is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM. The flagship device will also feature an AI Assistant that may be called Bixby.

Samsung will skip the MWC 2017 for the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S8+. Instead, a special event in New York this March will most likely launch the device then released by April. The South Koreans have not issued any invitations yet but the newest iteration is definitely coming as suggested by a new leak from Samsung itself. The Samsung India support page has posted a serial number for the device revealing that it will have the dual-SIM support, Phandroid has learned.
