Google published its monthly Android security for its Pixel and Nexus devices. The February security patch also came with the Nexus 6P users, who would be prompted with an update notification over-the-air.

The latest security bulletin released by Google mentioned a new security patch for its Pixel and Nexus devices. At the heat of the security update, the Nexus 6P devices came early with the Android Security update.

According to Android Headlines, the February 2017 Security Update loads a 40MB in size patch, and features the build number N4F26O. The said update is designed to fix several security issues in the Android OS, which are divided into two subsets dated 2017-02-01 and 2017-02-05.

Like the previous updates, the February Android Security update addresses fixing issues that appeared on the Android OS. According to NDTV, a total of 36 issues are resolved in two security patch levels, which offers "flexibility to more quickly fix a subset of vulnerabilities that are similar across all Android devices."

A slew of critical security vulnerabilities fixed in Google's Android Security update are noted by NDTV and include remote code execution vulnerability in Surfaceflinger, remote code execution vulnerability in Mediaserver, remote code execution vulnerability in Qualcomm crypto driver, elevation of privilege vulnerability in kernel file system, elevation of privilege vulnerability in Nvidia GPU driver, elevation of privilege vulnerability in kernel networking subsystem, elevation of privilege vulnerability in Broadcom Wi-Fi driver, and vulnerabilities in Qualcomm components among others.

Adding up to the handsets receiving the February security update include the Pixel and Pixel XL that will carry a build number of NOF26V. Similar to the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X will receive an update with build number N4F26O. The Nexus 6 will install the February security patch in NBD91Y build. The Nexus 9 and Nexus Player will get the update with build N4F26Q and NMF26X respectively.

To refresh, the Nexus 6P was released in 2016 and features a 5.7-inch display panel with 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution. Under the hood, the device is fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM.

On the camera front, it sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED and dual tone flash. An 8-megapixel front shooter sits in the front panel. The Nexus 6P houses a 3,450mAh battery and ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
