After running for four seasons from 2001 to 2004, Samurai Jack will be back for its fifth season with a darker direction that probably is no longer fit for children. The beloved samurai will be back in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on March 11. Now, Samurai Jack is broken and immortal after all the time travel he has been through.

Samurai Jack Back With Darker Direction; New Season No Longer Ideal For Kids?

Cartoon Network recently released a trailer for the fifth season of Samurai Jack, Business Insider reported. The story takes off 50 years after the last episode. The new trailer shows a defeated Samurai Jack who seems to have lost all hope to going back to his own time in Feudal Japan.

Genndy Tartakovsky will be back to direct the show. Samurai Jack is considered as Tartakovsky's first and best show. The show is about the adventures of Jack, a samurai who has been sent into the future by an evil tyrant called Aku.

Samura Jack Creator Talks About the Defeated Samurai

According to the makers of the show, the new season is a dark vision, Polygon reported. In the new season, Aku has managed to destroy all the portals, bringing the story back in time so that Jack can stop Aku from his evil plans. In the fifth season, Jack became an immortal due to all the time travel, but he is now broken.

Aku, on the other hand, has gained everything that he ever wanted, but like Jack, he is also miserable. Tartakovsky is excited to see how audiences will react to the show. He is also nervous, especially if people would only say that it is just fine. For him, that is worse than people saying they hated it.

According to the creators of the show, they will stick to what made the original series special despite all the technological advances brought to animation these days.
