Depression and anxiety usually go together and they can lead to a range of mild to life-threatening symptoms. Patients who suffer from this mental health condition are usually given various drugs. Now, Brain science startup NeuroQore plans to use magnetic pulses to cure anxiety and depression.

NeuroQore will shoot magnetic pulses to a patient's brain to treat these disorders, Tech Crunch reported. Two thirds of patients who are given prescription medicines for anxiety and depression don't get the desired response. NeuroQore is hopeful that their technology will cure these mental conditions.

The usual electrical stimulation therapy works by stimulating certain areas of the brain by sending positive feedback into the ear when a desired mood is attained in the brainwaves. This way, that positive brainwave is prolonged. With this method the brain will gradually be trained to maintain that positive brainwave permanently.

Anxiety and depression aren't mere feelings when people get sad. These are serious mental health condition that should be taken seriously since they can lead to restlessness, low spirited, losing pleasure in things and even cause something as serious as suicide, Express reported. If NeuroQore's goal to treat these mental disorders using magnetic pulses, lives will be saved.

NeuroQore Magnets for Anxiety Depression

Based on the rTMS technology, NeuroQore is not like the usual neurofeedback and other electrical stimulation therapies. Instead of sending positive tones when a desired brainwave is achieve, it sends magnetic pulses to create positive feedback directly to the brain. This technology uses biomarkers to measure the results, taking out the guesswork from the usual stimulation therapies.

One of the major advantages of this technology is it has no side effects. One of the downsides is, like other therapies, it also doesn't work on everyone. It is already approved in Canada with its home base in Ontario. Now, it is working for its FDA approval.
