"Destiny 2" is still on track for a 2017 release as confirmed by Activision in a presentation to investors. The much-anticipated sequel is also coming to PC as Activision intends to "broaden its global reach." Moreover, new leaks on "The Forge of Hope" as working title and a new game engine being built are all untrue.

Developer Bungie has been uncharacteristically quiet about the sequel to its successful shared world sci-fi shooter title. Before "Destiny 1" was released, the studio has been very talkative about features and plot points, which never made it to the actual game. This could be the reason why Bungie has kept quiet all these months as it intends to avoid making the same mistake again.

However, Activision just recently confirmed that "Destiny 2" is still set to have a 2017 release. This was disclosed in a presentation to investors along with the studios' plan of broadening its global reach and committing to follow up with content in order to "set stages for growth," Kotaku reported.

Global reach indicates that Activision intends to bring the game to PC according to PC Gamer. This time, it may entail a complete overhaul, which means that players may not be able to bring their gears from the previous game. The good news is that Bungie may be working on allowing greater customization tools in the process.

Bungie may have more reasons to stick to a 2017 release other than pleasing its fans. Sources who are privy to the going-ons at Bungie revealed that Activision will get a big chunk of the independent developer's stocks if the studio fails to release the game this year. Moreover, the stock vesting schedule of Bungie's employees is based on game releases.

Fans can, therefore, expect the follow-up to "Destiny 1" to be released soon. Bungie could give the first game a Spring update and then the sequel a Fall launch.

In the meantime, a Reddit rumor talking about the game has been circulating online. There is talk about the "Destiny 2: A Forge of Hope" and leaks on a new game engine being built. These rumors are untrue. The only substantial updates about the long-awaited sequel are what Activision has disclosed to its investors.
