It seems like BlackBerry Limited is on a roll this year. Aside from acquiring a new BlackBerry license agreement with India-based Optiemus just recently, the Canada-based company is now looking to have more significant partnerships by introducing a new cloud-based communication platform for developers.

The said platform, otherwise known as BBM Enterprise Software Development Kit (SDK), allows developers to incorporate messaging, video, and voice features on third-party applications in the most secure way possible. According to the press release on BlackBerry's official website yesterday, it also allows the company itself to bring on the competition with other cloud-based communication platforms and providing more opportunities for developers and other companies to augment their business processes more securely via an Application Program Interface (API) from other programs.

In the same press release, BlackBerry Chief Operating Officer Marty Beard mentioned that the company is continuously looking for ways to solve the problems faced by most businesses when it comes to using third-party applications; for example, when giving these applications the permission to access or save data in order to fully utilize its features or when sending transaction details and important documents to others. He also added that having the new platform, which is primarily meant to help developers and other companies to meet what's expected of them by their consumers, paves the way for more revenue. 

Further detailed on The Tech Portal, the BBM Enterprise SDK has something that is usually not available in other messaging apps. As most BlackBerry users are aware of, the BBM Enterprise is a cross-platform messaging and collaboration tool. For the SDK platform, it provides tools in order for a developer to integrate notifications, location, and data sharing features on applications aside from providing messaging, video, and voice features.

Indeed, BlackBerry is stepping up their game and is now expected to compete with Twilio, Bandwidth, and other cloud-based platforms used for developing applications.
