"Despicable Me 3" is set to return this year! With Gru, Lucy and their adopted daughters with the minions and other new characters, this could be yet another big blockbuster movie. Here's what we know so far about the third installment.

'Despicable Me 3' - What We Know So Far

The illumination-produced film has been a constant winner in terms of making blockbuster movies. With its two previous "Despicable Me" franchise and a prequel/spinoff of the film, "Minions", a third movie, "Despicable Me 3" is about to make a successful comeback to the big screen.

As of writing, the film is slated for a 2017 release. The movie taps the return of the original cast and new additional characters.

The "Despicable Me 3" is will be handled by the returning directors of the first two films, Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. These two filmmakers also headed the franchise' prequel/spinoff project, "Minions". In addition to the crew, Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio penned the story while Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy serves as its producers.

As for the cast, Cinemablend reported that Steve Carell is set to return in "Despicable Me 3" to voice two characters, Gru and Dru. For starters, Dru is, obviously, Gru's twin and as usual, as brothers, sibling rivalry will also be shown in the movie. They look alike however, Dru wears all white clothes, unlike Gru who likes Gray or Black clothes.

Moreover, other returning casts of "Despicable Me 3" includes Kristen Wigg as Lucy, Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario, Miranda Cosgrove also returns as Margo and Dana Gaier as Edith. Elsie Fisher will no longer be Agnes as she will be voiced by Nev Scharrel. For new characters, South Park co-creator, Trey Parker as Balthazar Bratt.

'Despicable Me 3' Official Synopsis

"Gru faces off against Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who grows up to become obsessed with the character he played in the '80s; and gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his long-lost twin brother, Dru."

As for the release date of "Despicable Me 3", Den of Geek reported that the film is due on June 30, this year.
