2017 could be the year of smartphones with OLED displays as Samsunf, Apple and Google have reportedly expressed their intent to use such technology to their upcoming flagships. However, OLED panels are reportedly come with a high price; thus, Samsung Galaxy S8, Apple iPhone 8 and Google Pixel 2 won't be relatively cheap.

The fact just can't be denied that when it comes to OLED panels, Samsung is the kingpin that has 95 percent of share from the market of OLED smartphone displays, according to Forbes. For this reason, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus handsets are already expected to flaunt the new display technology that comes with a curved edge-to-edge display and almost bezel-less screens.

Furthermore, the long-rumored iPhone 8 or other presumed it to be the iPhone X from Apple is also expected to sport OLED screen. However, according to BGR, this biggest change and move from the Cupertino giant won't come as easy as 1-2-3 because the OLED panels won't come cheap for the company.

Since the concept of iPhone 8 is having a wraparound OLED nearly edgeless display and specialized sensors located at the sides of the device, the transition is said to be exciting. For this reason, iPhone 8 are expected to deliver not only rich and vivid colors but also energy saving mechanism because OLED screens are considered to be efficient compared to LCD counterparts.

In the case of Google Pixel 2, the search giant is expected to produce another Pixel phone which resembles the Samsung Galaxy S7 with flat OLED screens. In addition, the second-generation Pixel phones are expected to flaunt an OLED screen with resolutions of 1920x1080 for the smaller one and 2560x1400 for the bigger one.

For this reason, Pixel 2 is expected to deliver Peak Brightness that is more than 1,000 nits. Also, the device is said to sport an improved performance in display and ambient lighting as well as power saving mechanisms according to reports.
