People download apps on Christmas more than any day of the year is the answer to the trivia question with only one obvious answer, even if you may be reluctant to choose it. Christmas just doesn't mix well with trivia question answers for some reason, perhaps because celebrators prefer to avoid the holiday's hidden facts.

More people download apps on Dec. 25 largely because more people receive new phones on that day than any other, according to the Atlantic. Like that new electric football set or Gameboy, a new phone must be tested and toyed with within hours of when it is received. Thus, so are its apps. Overall, people downloaded 328 million apps on their smartphones or tablets last year and that total is expected to be surpassed this season, according to the Atlantic.

1. Many companies now "soft launch" apps in smaller, English-speaking countries like Australia and Canada to test them for when they release in the United States, the biggest mobile market. One example was "Angry Birds."

2. Free apps with "in-app purchases" comprised 92 percent of all app-revenue in 2013 compared to 77 percent in 2012.

3. Can you guess the most revenue-generating app of 2013? Two hints: it wasn't "Candy Crush" and it was Apple's most successful app in terms of revenue.

4. Google Play and the Apple App Store dominate the revenue app share.

5. Most of the top app sellers are also game developers.
