PlayStation Plus update on February 2017 free games was finally announced earlier today. The games include "LittleBigPlanet 3" by Sumo Digital and "Not a Hero" by Roll 7.

After much anticipation, Sony finally announced the free games lineup for February. This year, Sony still followed the tradition of releasing on the first Tuesday of the month. The announcement comes a week before all the games go live, which will be on Feb. 7.

The 2014 release "LittleBigPlanet 3" is the first title in the series that was not developed by creator Media Molecule. It was developed by Sumo Digital for the PlayStation and PS4. It is not a cros-buy title and is only available for free in PS4 version. "Not a Hero" made its debut in 2015 on Android and PC, but in 2016 was released for PS4 and Xbox One.

Meanwhile, PS3 owners will get the "Strawhal" by Breakfast and "Anna" by the Extended Edition of Dreampainters Software. "Ninja Senki DX" by Tribute Games and "TorqueL" by FullPowerSideAttack.com are free for Vita owners.

In sum, PS4 owners will get a total of five free games, Polygon has learned. This is because titles like "Strawhal," "Ninja Senki DX" and TorqueL" are cross-buy titles that are playable as PS4 versions.

It has been weeks that gamers were waiting for Sony to make the big reveal especially after Microsoft has made its Xbox Gold free games lineup for February last week. The Xbox games with Gold February 2017 free games look particularly strong starting with the highly rated "Project Cars" for the Xbox One.

The Xbox 360 has the smash hit "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" and the "Monkey Island 2." All the titles are playable on Xbox One via Backwards Compatability.

PlayStation has already announced 11 new games as addition to the successful PlayStation Now Service, which is Sony's streaming service. PlayStation Now allows gamers to play PS3 or older titles on the PS4 via a rental or subscription basis.

For the February 2017 free games lineup, fans were actually expecting "Gravity Rush Remastered." The sequel "Gravity Rush 2" was just released early last month and adding the original game is a good way to promote the new one, Daily Star reported. Since it is not included in the PlayStation Plus February 2017 free games lineup, fans are hoping that it may eventaully come free in later months.

While waiting for the free games to go live, you may still play the January 2017 free games. The lineup includes "This War of Mine: The Little Ones," "Titan Souls," "Day of the Tentacle Remastered," "Blazerush," "Azkend 2," and "The Swindle."
