Details about 'Episode VIII', which was recently unveiled as "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" are slowwly surfacing. Here's more updates about the latest title in the "Star Wars" franchise.

The eighth installment's title has only been released this month, although fans are still eagerly awaiting specifics on the plot. Director Rian Johnson recently shared which films influenced his work on "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". Here's to hoping it might hint at what's to come.

Per The Independent, Johnson has referenced on "Twelve O'Clock High" when reflecing on "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". The former is a 1949 WWII film that garnered two Oscars. According to Johnson, the look and feel of the aerial combat, not to mention the dynamics between the pilots was something he looked into as inspirations for "Episode VIII".

He cited two other movies, "Three Outlaw Samurai" and "To Catch a Thief". The former served as amodel for the sword-fighting feel, while the latter was simply a great film to keep rewatching, mostly for it's romantic scale and grandeur. Hideo Gosha's "Three Outlaw Samurai" was a 1964 flim, which featured a ronin traveling with two renegades in an attempt to save a magistrate's daughter. While Alfred Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief" (starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly), featured Grant as a former jewel thief who must prove his innocence. 

Johnson added about the difficulties encountered when writing dialogue for  "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". He said that one should be careful when writing, as you don't want to make the dialogue seem that it's too modern or different -  you can't risk losing that "Star Wars" spell. He also mentioned that the original films were brilliant at tech talk, being simultaneously complex enough to sound real and conceptually simple enough to follow.

Meanwhile, according to Variety, Universal's "Fifty Shades Darker" led the top spot in social media buzz last week, with a whopping 245,000 new conversations, according to media-measurement firm comScore and its PreAct service.

PreAct estimates that a total of 1.44 million new conversations were generated for "Fifty Shades Darker,"  which opens on Feb. 10. On the other hand, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" generated an impressive 159,000 new conversations as well - claiming the second spot, as the official title was revealed a teaser poster was released on Jan. 23.

No trailer for "Episode VIII" yet but "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" comes to theaters on Dec. 15
